BURSZTYN VI: Minimaquina IIIb

Camilo Mendez (Composer)

Research output: Non-textual formComposition

Abstract

Minimáquina III exists in two different forms as a DUO & as a QUINTET. Therefore, it can be performed as a DUO consisting of ‘prepared’ soprano voice & prepared flute without pianists; or as a QUINTET.
The piece was composed using two texts in Spanish: ‘Feliza Bursztyn’ & ‘El Arte es experimento’ (Eng. Art is experiment). The name FE-LI-ZA BU- UR-SZ-TYN was fragmented, the sounds & syllables were used as musical materials (in different combinations). The second text is a quotation taken from the interview ‘Dos Galerías y una Feliza’ by Gloria Valencia de Castaño, El Tiempo, Bogotá: abril 27 de 1972, p. 7B.
