    Abstract

    The machine chaining problem invariably arises when there is improper assignment of machines into machine cells in a cellular manufacturing environment, in which case a high intercellular movement of parts is observed. This paper examines this phenomenon and proposes an efficient algorithm for solving such a machine chaining problem.
