Abstract

Topics of discussion will be floated beforehand, but a great deal of the discussion should represent a retrospective on 2023, the year in which AI was most visibly summoned into existence as a social object through the megatheater of technology startups, engorged media platforms, political agents, the self-identified creative world, and a general audience of which many directly interacted with the concept for the first time.

The discussion should focus less on what AI is, and instead the challenges and opportunities that this object represents for social institutions, labor, and cultural production.
