Abstract

In this study, a total of 86 Chinese medicine prevention and treatment protocols were obtained by systematically search on official websites of 32 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions of China, including the Chinese Medicine Administration. Based on the high-frequency prescription statistics and the climatic characteristics of Hong Kong, we have drafted two preliminary protocols for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 in Hong Kong. The prevention protocol includes the principles of protection, Chinese herbal medicine, and Chinese external treatments for prevention, etc. The prescriptions are classified according to the different factors, such as risk of exposure, the constitution variability of Chinese medicine, population with chronic diseases, and the special groups of children and the elderly, etc. The treatment protocol includes the disease stages, pattern and symptoms, Chinese medicine and acupuncture treatment, etc. The prescriptions are recommended based on the characteristics of different populations of adults and children.
