Abstract
Compared to the odes of the transmitted Mao Shi 毛詩 (Mao-annotated odes) version of the Shi jing 詩經 (Classic of Odes), many odes in the Anhui University bamboo slip Shi jing manuscript exhibit variation in the sequence of their stanzas. Employing the ode “Si tie” 駟驖 (Iron-Black Horses; Mao 127) as a case study, this paper explores variants of stanzaic order to more broadly assess the significance of these new sources.
