OtherThe Chinese language is the carrier of its culture, upon which all Chinese scholarship is predicated. In this era, the study of Chinese linguistics embodies also the science, information and technology communicated through the language. Thus motivated, the Department of Chinese Language Studies, the Education University of Hong Kong (EDUHK), in collaboration with Peking University (PKU) and the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), has inaugurated the 1st International Symposium on Frontiers of Chinese Linguistics (SFCL) series with the theme: "Phonetics and Phonological Frontiers in Chinese Linguistics". Sound is not only fundamental in human languages; it is also the only aspect with direct physical correlates in articulatory physiology and acoustics.

The symposium will be held on 7-9 June 2018, as a platform for the consolidation of pioneering milestones in science, education and technology. It aims to bring together world-renown linguists to share research results and explore the issues of phonetics and phonological frontiers in Chinese Linguistics, and move forward to the future with the community.
