Abstract
Plant hormones are important chemicals produced by plants that regulate various processes of growth and development. After being synthesized in the cell, plant hormones can be transported to their site of action to regulate downstream gene expression, leading to various responses such as cell division and differentiation, tissue and organ initiation, and plant adaptations to the environment. In recent years, multiple transporters have been identified for plant hormones. However, much is still unknown with respect to their biochemical functions and mechanisms. Here we outline the current knowledge about the transporters of plant hormones and their regulation, and elaborate on the methods and strategies that are currently available for the study of plant hormones transport. This work could provide clues for the understanding on the mechanisms of plant hormones during growth and development.
