Abstract

Rediscover our bond with the land since eons ago through multi-dimensional experiences

A special resonance with the land on earth is buried in our genes. Since eons ago, this bond continues to drive the actions of all beings. To survive and expand, we choose to roam and migrate, even getting lost at times throughout challenging journeys. But we always respond to the universe in a myriad of ways.

To find the promised land of abundance, humans arrive at the barren rock. As the land and humans nourish each other, lush green forests and cities with skyscrapers come into being. When the call to wander rises again, the stories of staying and leaving continue with everyone venturing towards the unknown, paying attention to what life reveals.

The artist group Vividly produced the rock-themed The Inner Études in 2021, an immersive theatre inspired by the Victoria Prison and the geological history of Hong Kong rocks. The acclaimed production received four nominations at the HK Theatre Libre Awards and became a Design Mark recipient of Taiwan’s Golden Pin Design Award.

This year, expanding from geographic to demographic, Vividly produced The Sublime Progressions and investigates the theme of migration and diaspora by species and tribes, leading audiences on a journey across time and space in Tai Kwun via multi-dimensional soundscapes, lighting, projections, scenery, and performances.
