Abstract
In today's world, the rapid development of technology is transforming our lifestyles and ways of thinking. We are confronted with a boundless reality, where the free flow of information transcends the boundaries between virtual and physical spaces, and connections between people are ubiquitous. This continuous evolution bridges innovation and tradition. Art, capable of transcending the limits of time and culture, serves as a medium for human emotions and thoughts. In this boundless era, the power of art is being rediscovered and valued anew.
The advancement of technology is providing more possibilities for artistic creation. The application of digital technology, virtual reality, augmented reality, and other new technologies has made art creation more diverse and rich. Artists can harness the power of technology to create more imaginative and creative works, immersing the audience in a new artistic experience. The integration of technology and art is not merely an innovative attempt but also an extension and expansion of traditional art forms. Through the application of technology, art can interact more deeply with the audience, making them participants and co-creators in the artistic process.
This exhibition features multiple sets of artworks by six artists/collectives, spanning media, technology, and science. Paul Shepherd integrates the symbolic meanings of dragons and pearls in traditional Chinese culture with technology, projecting the architectural features of Huaqiangbei into a futuristic world, presenting a unique vision and visual impact. Fei Jun's works capture and recreate the movements of the audience, exploring the residual value of human gestures, energy conversion, and virtual labor. Picture Rhythm Studios combines physical space and virtual elements to provide a multi-dimensional, multi-sensory viewing experience. Michael Whittle draws inspiration from science and nature, using materials and forms to create unique visual and tactile experiences.
Art, spread through the boundless internet, enriches people's aesthetic experiences and promotes the exchange and understanding between different cultures. The development of technology offers more possibilities for artistic creation, making art more diverse and rich. The integration of art and technology will bring us a more open, inclusive, and innovative future. The Huaqiangbei (HQB) Museum is actively expanding the field of museum social education, committed to building an integrated education, research, and innovative practice space for art and technology. By using art to build a cultural bay area and technology to support cultural exchange and heritage, the museum tells the story of the bay area and continues the "Spring Story."
