Abstract
The evolution of frequently-used vocabulary is mostly showed in the changes of the comparison of classical and vernacular Chinese in both synchronic and historical level. The comparison objectively reflects the features of Spoken Chinese in the early 15th century and over 100 such groups in which 60 groups of verbs appear. This paper illustrates the features of the development of the comparison of classical and vernacular verbs with interpretation of 12 groups of verbs from 12 categories within semantic units. We can provide convincing evidence of generation-gap to the research of frequently-used vocabulary in Modern Chinese.
