Objective To discuss the scientificity of five circuits and six qi in circuit theory, and explore the correlation between cerebral infarction morbidity and meteorological factors based on the cognition of circuit theory to the relationship between circuit of year or six qi and disease morbidity and through analyzing the hospitalization data of patients with cerebral infarction (CI). Methods The hospitalized data of 3832 cases of CI for 12 y were collected from the Dongzhimen Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine for calculating the constituent ratio of hospitalized CI cases at different periods of circuit of year to total hospitalized CI cases at the same periods, and analyzing the difference in the constituent ratio of hospitalized CI cases at different periods of circuits or qi. The correlation was studied between hospitalized data at 24 Solar Terms every year and meteorological factors at the same Solar Term or meteorological factors at prior Solar Term. Results The constituent ratio of hospitalized CI cases was the highest at Xin year of waterless-circuit among different Heavenly Stems, and in the third qi among different Dominant qi. The morbidity of MI was positively correlated to average temperature, average vapor pressure and average relative humidity at the same Solar Term, and correlated to average temperature, average vapor pressure, average relative humidity and average low cloudiness at prior Solar Term. Conclusion The morbidity of MI has difference at different Heavenly Stems, circuits and six qi periods, and correlated to meteorological factors.
