Listening to the Sound of the Earth Spinning

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

The exhibition was held at CHAT (Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile). This was CHAT’s first solo exhibition by a Hong Kong artist, presented as a 20-year retrospective of his practice. The exhibition has attracted over 40,000 visitors. The exhibition explored themes of weaving, spinning, sound, and light, and the connection between living creatures and the stories that link us together. The title itself is an homage to Yoko Ono’s conceptual art piece EARTH PIECE: Listen to the sound of the earth turning, with Ng replacing “turning” with the textile-related “spinning”. The exhibition immerses visitors to imagine and to listen to the spinning of the threads of life by humans and animals on our planet.
