Project Details
Description
This project aims to develop an integrated system for high-resolution greenhouse gas (GHG; e.g., CH4, CO2) monitoring and emission estimation in Hong Kong by combining satellite observations (e.g., TROPOMI, GOSAT-2), vehicle-mounted mobile measurements, and the WRF-Chem model. A closed-loop framework integrating observation, inversion, and validation will ensure traceable and robust emission estimates across multiple spatial and temporal scales. The project will also incorporate local data on energy consumption, transportation activity, and waste management to construct a policy-relevant, high-resolution emission inventory, further optimized using WRF-Chem. The outcomes will enhance Hong Kong’s GHG monitoring capability and support air quality improvement and carbon neutrality targets by translating scientific knowledge into actionable insights.
