Project Details
Description
Buildings consume about 90% of the generated electricity in Hong Kong, and thermal management consumes the largest portion of electricity. Meanwhile, 70% of the putrescible waste produced in Hong Kong is landfilled. To mitigate the double challenge of high thermal management energy consumption and low putrescible waste reuse in Hong Kong, we aim to develop a putrescible food and yard waste-based thermal management film to cut off the air-conditioning energy consumption of buildings and facilitate the reuse of putrescible waste. The new design will have a lowered carbon footprint while maintaining the energy-saving potential. It highly aligns with the Hong Kong Climate Action Plan 2050 and Waste Blueprint 2035 for Hong Kong.
