Project Details
Description
"This research project explores Hong Kong ceramic history and preservation (dragon kiln), community-engaged ceramic art, digital ceramics (3D modeling/printing), and ceramic technique (wood firing). It aims to create a contemporary installation combining wood firing and 3D clay printing to address urban development.
Engaging the Tuen Mun community, the project uncovers untold stories tied to significant ceramic ware. Participants hand-drew the ware, transformed into 3D objects using modeling/printing. These works bridge past and present.
A web platform shares collected stories, integral to the artwork, establishing collective memory and connecting individuals. It aims to inspire future cultural preservation initiatives in Hong Kong.
This project preserves local heritage, reconciles urban development conflicts, enhances cultural awareness, and explores digital technology and AI in socially engaged ceramics. It positively impacts the community beyond the artwork itself."
