Biography

Prior to joining HKBU, Dr. Yu was the Group Director of Data Scientists at FWD, having led the direction of digital analytics and machine learning practices. Dr. Yu held a number of managerial and consulting positions across industries including HSBC, Cigna, Las Vegas Sands Corp., McCann Group and Hong Kong Disneyland. 

He was a Croucher Foundation Scholar and obtained his DPhil in Engineering Science from The University of Oxford in 2005. 

Research Interests

His research interests include real life applications of data science, business analytics, web analytics, digital transformation and data warehousing technologies. He received a research funding grant at Hong Kong Polytechnic University and a teaching development grant at Hong Kong Baptist University.
