Biography
Dr.Gabriel Remy-Handfield holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Montreal, where he completed a dissertation entitled "Lu Yang: An Aberrant Aesthetic". He was previously a SSHRC post-doctoral fellows at Australian National University where he was affiliated with the Australian China Centre in the World, and the School of Culture, History, and Language. His current research interest encompasses Sinophone contemporary art, speculative fiction, and digital media, cultural studies, post-humanist philosophies and theories. He has published several peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Screen Bodies, Journal of Chinese Film Studies, and Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art. Forthcoming publications include a co-edited book with Livia Monnet and Ari Heinrich on LuYang for Bloomsbury Press and a book chapter on Body Horror.
