Biography

Adam Cheung joined the Department of Sociology in 2018. Prior to joining the Hong Kong Baptist University, he worked at the Education University of Hong Kong and National University of Singapore. His research interests include gender ideology, division of household labor, marital relations and domestic violence in Hong Kong and other Asian societies. His current research project examines how do couples negotiate the division of household labor at different life-stages, and to what extent, hiring a domestic helper at home change the family dynamic. In particular, he is interested in how young husbands and wives interact with a live-in domestic helper at home. Besides, he has other on-going and past research projects investigating the factors and patterns of domestic violence, parental involvement, and the rise of solo-living in Hong Kong, Mainland China and Korea.
