Biography

ZHOU Yuanyuan is the Principal Investigator (PI) of the Advanced Semiconductor Laboratory at HKBU Physics since Sep. 2020. He earned B.S. in Materials Science & Engineering from Xi'an Jiaotong University, a C9 League school in mainland China, and Ph.D. in Engineering from Brown University, an Ivy League school in the United States, where he immediately started his career as an Assistant Professor (Research) during 2016-2020. Zhou served as a PI or co-PI of several U.S. federal grants from National Science Foundation (NSF) and Department of Defense (total funding share near 1 million USD), and recently secured funding from the Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC) and National Science Foundation of China (NSFC). He received numerous honors & awards including: 2022 NSFC Excellent Young Scientists Funds (HK-Macau) Awardee and HKBU President's Award for Outstanding Early-Career Researcher

Research Interests

Current Research Interests

Dr. Zhou’s current research focuses on transforming semiconductor technologies for sustainable and smart society via transdisciplinary approaches. The specific interests include, but are not limited to:

1. Perovskite semiconductors and electronics;
2. Multimodal characterization at high energy, space, and time resolutions;
3. High-throughput synthesis, screening, and discovery of new semiconductors.
