Biography
Siu-Fan Lee is Associate Professor at the Department of Religion and Philosophy, Hong Kong Baptist University. She read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of Oxford and obtained her doctorate in Philosophy at King’s College London. She is an analytic philosopher by training and her research interests are in philosophy of language, philosophy of logic, and philosophy of mind. She is the author of Logic: A Complete Introduction (Hodder, 2017), of which a translation in simplified Chinese is forthcoming.
Siu-Fan obtained two General Research Grants from the Research Grant Council of Hong Kong, since she joined the HKBU in 2011. Her research in the metaphysics of pregnancy has made her a co-investigator of the project ‘Chinese and Cross-Cultural Health Humanities: Body, Mind, and Well-Being in the Contemporary Context’ under Initiation Grant for Faculty Niche Research Areas. She has received many teaching grants and impact project funds. Currently she has applied for a Quality Education Fund for building an e-learning platform in Critical Thinking for all secondary schools in Hong Kong.
Siu-Fan engages in many services inside and outside the academia, including making a film about Chinese immigrants in the UK and curating an exhibition on early explorers of China in London. She aspires to develop critical thinking education in the community in mixed media for all walks of life from children to the elderly.
