Biography

Dr. Luqiu had been a television journalist for 20 years. She has covered many major international events ranging from the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, Libya and Gaza to the tsunami in Indonesia, the earthquake in Japan and China. She also reported on Chinese political news and interviewed several Chinese leaders. Before moving to academia, she worked as a presenter, commentator, and executive news editor for the Phonenix Satellite television in Hong Kong.

Dr. Luqiu's book writing and online activities have made her recognizable in China, especially among internet users. In 2006, she became a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University. She received her Ph.D. in mass communication from Pennsylvania State University and obtained her master's degree in mass communication from Hong Kong Baptist University. 

She was born and raised in Shanghai and earned her bachelor's degree in philosophy from Fudan University.
