Research Interests
I have an interest in contributing to a deeper understanding of prevention of metabolic syndrome which is the root cause of most of the deadly diseases. I think our bodies are well equipped to heal themselves. Yoga (a form of mind body exercise) is believed as an integrated and alternative method of active self-healing since ages. Therefore, I employ mind body exercises that has been followed by our ancestors to reveal how these exercises may help in reversing the root cause of diseases.
Most of my current research focuses on preventive measures for specific metabolic syndrome components, such as obesity, hypertension, high triglycerides, low high-density lipoprotein, and high blood sugar levels through yoga. Furthermore, based on literatures yoga also has capability to help us age gracefully without the burdens of diseases. On the other hand, sarcopenia is a condition that affects all elderly people. In my ongoing research, I'm also examining how yoga might help senior citizens age well and delay sarcopenia.
My upcoming studies will also focus on effects of yoga on athletic performance. In the future, I'd like to investigate other forms of mind and body exercises as well as other types of exercises for improving athletic performance.
