Personal profile

Biography

I study the impact of social relationships on health and well-being in the general population and among two underrepresented groups – older adults and their family caregivers. I pay attention to various aspects of social relationships, including but not limited to social ties within and outside the household, formal and informal social engagement, and social capital and social support embedded in social networks. My research explores three main themes: (1) complexity and dynamics of social relationships and health, (2) stress, coping, and mental well-being among family caregivers, and (3) social capital in a comparative perspective.
