Dr. Ma Yuan graduated with a Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from the Peking University Health Science Center in 2019. In the same year, he was appointed as an associate researcher at the Meng Chao Hepatobiliary Hospital of Fujian Medical University, focusing on early diagnosis and clinical research of new treatments for liver cancer. In 2020, he joined the School of Chinese Medicine at Hong Kong Baptist University as a postdoctoral researcher and was promoted to research assistant professor in 2022. He is dedicated to exploring the use of small nucleic acid drugs for cancer diagnosis and treatment, as well as targeted therapy in the modernization of traditional Chinese medicine. In the same year, Dr. Ma was elected as the Secretary-Hong Kong Association of Herbal Pharmacology.

Dr. Ma's research interests over the past decade have focused on the development of natural products and nucleic acid drugs in the fields of oncology and orthopedic diseases. His representative work has been published in journals such as Biomaterials, Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, Colloids and Surfaces B: Biointerfaces, and Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry. He has led or participated in numerous provincial and national funding projects.

2. Artificial intelligence aided high affinity modification of aptamers

3. Aptamer functionalized nanomedicines for oncology and orthopedic diseases.
