Biography

In his postgraduate studies at Imperial College London, Matthew Lui conducted research under the supervision of Tom Welton, focusing on the physical properties of ionic liquids. Subsequently, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow with Thomas Maschmeyer at the University of Sydney and the late Istvan Horvath at City University of Hong Kong, concentrating on sustainable chemical processes. He joined Hong Kong Baptist University in 2019 and is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry. His current research interests include developing an arthropods-based circular economy, lignin chemistry, and green solvents.
