Biography
Professor Jiming Liu is Chair Professor in Computer Science (2010-present), and Dean of Faculty of Science (2021-present). He has served HKBU as Associate Vice-President (Research) (2017-2019), Acting Dean of Science (2015-2017), Associate Dean (Research) (2011-2017), and Head of Computer Science Department (2003-2011). Professor Liu’s scholarly work has spanned multiple research fields, including: AI, Autonomous Multi-agent Systems, Machine Learning, Complex Systems, and Computational Epidemiology. He was named a Fellow of IEEE (2011-present) for his pioneering contributions in Autonomy-Oriented Computing (AOC) and Web Intelligence (WI). Over the past decade, Professor Liu has led AI and data science-enabled transformation in disease surveillance and response. Working together with the national and local Chinese Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), he and his research team have played a pivotal role in China’s malaria elimination journey, a major milestone in global health.
