Biography
Dr. Jiayan Pan is a faculty member in the Department of Social Work in Hong Kong Baptist University. She obtained her PhD degree in social work in University of Hong Kong. Dr Pan was trained in psychology and social work in both Mainland China and Hong Kong. Her research has been focused on acculturation, resilience and mental health, post-migration growth, Chinese (international) students, cognitive behavioural therapy, online counseling, VR therapy. In 2018-2019, Dr. Pan was successfully awarded three research grants on developing three online cognitive behavioral therapy programs (CANDO, REST Online and EASE Online) for people with mental health needs, such as depression and social anxiety, and providing them with online counseling services. Dr. Pan is the founder and director of Online Companion, a new start-up company delivering online counseling service to Hong Kong people. Dr. Pan has published more than 30 journal papers and delivered more than 20 conference presentations in her research areas.
