Biography
Dr. Chan Chun-yiu, Henri is currently Lecturer I and Fieldwork Director in the Department of Social Work at Hong Kong Baptist University. He is a registered social worker with extensive experience in social work education and practice, particularly in coordinating fieldwork placements for social work students. He has worked closely with students, agency supervisors, and academic departments to ensure quality fieldwork experiences.
Dr. Chan’s teaching covers a broad range of social work topics including theory and practice, mental health counselling, and career facilitation. He is also dedicated to promoting mental wellness through innovative approaches such as Zentangle art and self-compassion practices.
His major research interests include late-life depression, mindfulness, self-compassion, and the application of Zentangle in mental health promotion among older adults and social work students. He has published research on the effects of Zentangle on depressive symptoms and affective well-being.
Dr. Chan is a passionate advocate for promoting mental wellness through Zentangle art. Since 2014, he has conducted over 300 workshops, collaborating with NGOs in Hong Kong, Macau, and Singapore to cultivate self-compassion and mindfulness in diverse communities, particularly among caregivers, older adults and social work practitioners.
