Biography
Hon-man Chan, Associate Professor and former Associate Head (2018-2023) of the Department of Chinese, received his Ph.D. from the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London. He specialises in Chinese literature of the eleventh through seventeenth centuries. Research interests include classical poetry and poetics, the history of court culture, the collection and connoisseurship of objects in the Song and Yuan dynasties. He is currently working on several projects, including two monographs on the history of court poetry in Yuan times and the writing of Song objects in Yuan literary culture.
