Biography
George Kam Wah Mak (麥金華) is Associate Professor and Programme Director of BA in Religion, Philosophy and Ethics, Department of Religion and Philosophy, Hong Kong Baptist University. He is an award-winning scholar with expertise in areas including Chinese Bible Translation, History of Chinese Christianity, and Language and Nationalism in Modern China. His scholarly works were published by internationally renowned publishers including Brill, Cambridge University Press, De Gruyter and Oxford University Press. He is an elected Fellow of the Royal Historical Society (FRHistS) and the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland (FRAS), as well as Associate Editor of Ching Feng: A Journal on Christianity and Chinese Religion and Culture. Formerly the President of the Society for the Study of History of Christianity in China (2020-2022), he was a visiting faculty member of the Nida School of Translation Studies 2016, a visiting fellow of the Clare Hall, University of Cambridge (2021), and a visiting scholar of the Institute for Chinese Studies at Freie Universitaet Berlin, Germany (2024).
