Dahye Kim joined the department in 2025. Prior to this, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the National University of Singapore and the University of Hong Kong. In response to rapid population ageing and health crises, her work focuses on three interrelated questions, primarily within the context of East Asia: 1) gender inequality across the life course, 2) informal caregiving arrangements within households, and 3) social protection and care systems in ageing societies. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as The Journal of Development Studies, Journal of Marriage and Family, Journal of Family Issues, The Journals of Gerontology: Series B, Population, and Research on Aging. She is currently involved in several research projects, including examining the global impact of COVID-19 social policies, the vulnerability of widowhood in Korea, community care systems in Singapore and Korea, and childless ageing in Singapore.
