Organization Profile
The Department of Music was founded in 1973, after the establishment of Hong Kong Baptist College in 1956. For over 45 years, the Department of Music has provided thousands of graduates with a practical, creative, and intellectual foundation for careers in music and music-related fields.
The Department strives to meet the educational needs of a diverse student body through instruction, scholarship, performance, composing, and public service. It has worked steadily to expand the creative and professional growth of its faculty and contribute to cultural knowledge through specific research streams. These include cross-cultural research, research on performance practices, research on music education, and creative output (including music and multimedia composition and performance).
