Organization Profile

Organisation profile

The Academy of Visual Arts (AVA) is the first university academy of its kind in Hong Kong, providing professional visual arts undergraduate, postgraduate and research degree programmes linked to international exchange and the fast-growing creative industries. AVA takes an open-minded, inclusive and holistic approach to visual arts education. We break down the boundaries of concepts, beliefs, traditions, perceptions and hypotheses through art and students gain the confidence to perceive, appreciate and articulate. AVA seeks to widen perspectives and create awareness and respect, encouraging students to work with the contemporary issues of society – be they local, regional or global.

The Academy of Visual Arts pursues a broad and diverse research agenda with special focus on public art, socially engaged art, art and technology and analysis of objects in a transnational context.
