Transformations of Visual Experience: Exploration of Ink Art from Real Landscapes to Installations

Activity: Conference/talk/lecture/symposium/speech/workshop, etcEvent organized by non-HKBU units

Description

Visual experience is not merely a scientific mode of perception, but a “re-creation” interwoven with past sensory experiences, aesthetic consciousness, and memory. Landscape painting is precisely the projection of the creator’s inner visual experience. This lecture will explore how artist, when faced with real scenery, creates diverse landscape works through the interplay between objective representation and imagination. In the contemporary context, ink installation art offers a promising pathway to expand the viewing experience of real landscapes. This transformation—from real landscape to installation—not only extends the expressive dimensions of ink art but reshapes the viewer’s visual experience and mode of participation. The lecture will conclude with a demonstration of basic landscape painting from real scenery.
