About this event Like its people, Hong Kong independent cinema quickly reacts to the city’s social changes as Hong Kong goes into its second historical transition. At this juncture, this workshop seeks to offer a platform for scholars and filmmakers across Hong Kong and the UK to discuss emerging creative outputs in Hong Kong independent cinema. As the city undergoes significant changes, this workshop will cover topics from the cultural memory of Hong Kong cinema to its financial well-being to future aesthetic possibilities. We aim to shed light on the future of Hong Kong independent cinema, retain its unique voice and reorient the cinema of Hong Kong in the global market.
