HKBU X HKIFF: Gingle Wang and Angela Yuen explore actresses’ possibilities

Co-organised by the 50th Hong Kong International Film Festival (@hkiffs) and HKBU, the panel discussion, “Asian Talents in Conversation: Framing the Future” – Expanding Female Narratives in Chinese-language Cinema, was successfully held at STUDIO 5, Creative Hub on the Jockey Club Campus of Creativity at HKBU!

At the seminar, #GingleWang @_ginglebellaaa and HKBU alumna #AngelaYuen @angela.yuen traced the shift from traditional female portrayals to increasingly nuanced and layered narratives. They also reflected on underrepresented female experiences they hope to see explored more deeply in future films, and on how certain roles resonate with the real-life experiences of modern Asian women.

The seminar was met with enthusiastic participation from the HKBU students and audience, who actively engaged in the discussions, underscoring the vitality and forward-looking energy of cultural exchange among Asia’s emerging film talents!
