Evaluating the use of L1 in university English lessons: A case study in Hong Kong

This poster evaluates the use of students’ first language (L1), by both teachers and students in an in-sessional writing and speaking course at a university in Hong Kong. It explores the benefits and limitations of the use of L1, and provides suggestions on how different languages can be used in an array of teaching and learning activities at various stages of the lesson.
