Description
Art has been used by Black Americans to spread joy, craft important political messages, preserve history, and shape social movements toward equity. Through multiple mediums (including performing arts, literature, fashion, folklore, language, film, music, architecture, culinary and other forms of cultural expression), the Black American experience and Black American expression has expanded globally, able to be appreciated and respected by many. This discussion will focus on key Black cultural moments and historical figures that led movements of expression, defiance, and celebration.
