Chinese ancestor portraits are significant branches of Chinese figurative painting. Have you ever wondered about the implications and stories behind these portraits?

In this CCL-recognised talk, Prof. Ung Vai Meng, Distinguished Guest Professor of Faculty of Humanities and Arts, Macau University of Science and Technology, will explore Chinese ancestor portraits through perspectives from costume studies, iconography, sociology, and colour theory.

Prof. Ung will also discuss the philosophical foundations in Confucian doctrine and fundamental principles of Chinese ancestor portraits, while investigating their substantial impact on the evolutionary trajectory of Chinese art history.
