    Description

This is a public talk by the author, Robert Neather, followed by a discussion with three guest speakers, to launch his book "Translating for Museums, Galleries and Heritage Sites". The description is as follows:
In any museum, gallery, or heritage site, translation is essential in enabling foreign-language visitors to make sense of what they see displayed. Yet despite a growing body of research in the field of museum translation, there has hitherto been little available in the way of practical training in this area. This book aims to help fill that need. Published in the Routledge Translation Practices Explained series, the book draws on the author’s research and teaching of museum translation, to examine practical issues in the translation of various types of interpretive and information texts, taking a multilingual approach that incorporates examples from a wide variety of languages.
