Activity: Conference/talk/lecture/symposium/speech/workshop, etcEvent organized by non-HKBU units

Description

“Arts Tech Lab and Public Education Programme” is a project for the local community, to integrate the latest digital technologies and fabrication techniques in the making of visual art. It features projects that are tied to two key areas: (1) generating knowledge and experience through integration of art and technology; and (2) service and tools to enhance the art making process in the digital world. Art Tech is essentially a global cultural trend driven by the growing convergence of arts and technology. Even before the pandemic, it had been disrupting cultural ecosystems worldwide.

The project aims to bring together new developments in Art Tech and provides stakeholders with opportunities to learn about and experience contemporary art using new medias and technologies, e.g., Extended Reality (XR), virtual reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR). It helps the public understand and experience how digital media is currently being used to incorporate traditional art practices. It serves as a hub for investigation, expression, and dialogue on how Art Tech affects contemporary culture and society. It also explores the possibilities Art Tech opens for communication, interaction, and expression. The proposed lab will provide a dynamic learning opportunity for the stakeholders.
