This public lecture investigates the early development of the University of Melbourne's Old Masters' Print Collection, one of the largest print collections in Australia, the equivalent of a state institution or national gallery. Predicated on archival discoveries, the lecture focuses on the period 1959-1964 outlining the background of some of the most important acquisitions.
