Description
The Lai Chi Kok Hospital is located at the current site of the Jiao Tsung-I Academy. Once used as a prison, it was converted into a hospital for infectious diseases in 1938 to provide medical services in Kowloon along with Kowloon Hospital and Kwong Wah Hospital. In view of the severe spread of infectious diseases in Hong Kong, the Hospital was allocated for receiving patients with Cholera and Tuberculosis until the establishment of Princess Margaret Hospital in 1975 in Lai Chi Kok.
